State of the District Scholarship

Several Riverside businesses and community organizations, in partnership with Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) and Riverside Educational Enrichment Foundation (REEF), raised scholarship funds at the 3rd Annual State of the District Luncheon to recognize achievement and excellence of deserving graduating high school students within RUSD. These scholarships represent the dedication of the Riverside community to provide more opportunities and support for the college and or career aspirations of tomorrow’s leaders.

Nineteen (19) $500 scholarships, Eight (8) $1,000 scholarships and one (1) $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to the highest-ranking applicants as determined by the selection committee. Scholarship funds will be issued in the summer of 2019.

Requirements for scholarship consideration are:

  • Short essay (400 word minimum) to describe your post-high school goals and aspirations. In your essay, please address one of the following topics as it relates to your future aspirations attach to this application:
  • How have you prepared yourself to be ready for college or a career?
  • Describe a challenge or obstacle you have overcome in your life?
  • Applicant must be a graduating senior from an RUSD school.
  • Applicant must be planning on attending a 2-4-year college/university full-time or enrolled in a trade school or certification program.
  • Academic GPA of 2.5 or higher (submit copy of transcript).
  •  List of community and volunteer service or part-time jobs from grades 9-12. 
  • Two letters of recommendation (please see recommendation form).
  • List of colleges, universities, trade schools, or certification programs admitted to.
  • How do you plan to spend the scholarship money? (50 word maximum)

The application deadline is Wednesday February 20th, 2019.
