The California Healthy Youth Act (AB 329), which took effect January 1, 2016, requires school districts to provide students with comprehensive sexual health education and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention education at least once in middle school and once in high school. Instruction and materials must be medically accurate, age‐appropriate and inclusive of all students. The law requires that instruction and materials must encourage students to communicate with parents, guardians or other trusted adults. Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is committed to ensuring the well-being of all students, and will continue to do so by providing a medically accurate curriculum aligned with state legal requirements.

La Ley de jóvenes saludables de California (AB 329), la cual entró en vigor el 1^o de enero de 2016, requiere que los distritos escolares les provean a los alumnos una educación integral sobre la salud sexual y la prevención del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) por lo menos una vez en la escuela secundaria y una vez en la escuela preparatoria. La enseñanza y el material debe ser médicamente precisa, apropiada para la edad e inclusiva para todos los alumnos. La ley obliga que la enseñanza y el material debe animar a los alumnos a comunicarse con sus padres, tutores legales u otros adultos de confianza.
