Employee Wellness & Engagement

Employee Wellness & Engagement

Riverside Unified School District's Employee Wellness program designs and implements researched-based wellness practices and educational opportunities to support employee well-being, career fulfillment, equity, and sustainability. We provide a safe place for employees to engage in their own self-care, foster positive connections across the district, integrate a culture of well-being and belonging, and weave caring for the whole person into every interaction.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

As part of our commitment to a high quality, comprehensive health and welfare benefit program, RUSD is pleased to offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP is offered through the local Community Action EAP, a non-profit corporation. Assistance for: emotional difficulties, stress/anxiety-related issues, family discord, financial and legal concerns, marital issues, alcohol misuse and/or drug abuse, etc.

The EAP provides confidential professional assistance to help employees and their families resolve problems that affect their personal lives or job performance. Besides being confidential, the program is voluntary; it is designed to allow the employee and their family members to seek help on their own. The program is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Healthier Generation

Healthy schools lead to healthy students. And healthy students are more likely to reach their full potential. Using a one-of-a-kind digital platform and an evidenced-based approach, our programs help schools and districts adopt policies and practices that result in healthier, happier students. Our work in schools aligns with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) & Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development’s (ASCD) Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. This means that in addition to focusing on physical activity and healthy eating, we also address multiple, critical child and adolescent health issues, such as social-emotional health and sleep.

To date, we’ve helped 44,500 schools nationwide transform their campuses and communities into places where students thrive physically, emotionally, and academically.

The Resilience in School Environments (RISE) Initiative, presented by Healthier Generation and Kaiser Permanente, empowers schools to create safe and supportive learning environments by developing policies and practices that improve the social-emotional health of all students and staff. A safe and supportive school can increase students’ academic performance as well as job satisfaction and performance in adults.

SEL Playbook

The purpose of this playbook is to provide teachers with a variety of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) activities and lessons to support students’ overall well-being and reestablish social connections. These activities were purposefully selected to be ready-to-use and easily implemented while requiring little-to-no additional preparation by the teacher. Most of the lessons and activities can easily be adapted for in-person, virtual, or even asynchronous settings. The lessons in this playbook can be used by teachers as deemed appropriate or necessary for their students/classroom.
