Becoming a Certificated Substitute for Riverside Unified School District

Certificated Substitute Requirements >>

All substitute teachers must possess a valid 30-day sub permit or credential.

To qualify for this permit, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and have completed fingerprinting for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). The Riverside Unified School District will be recruiting for substitute teacher positions beginning on May 18, 2026.

Application Requirements (Applicants must Include the following in order for the application to be considered)

  • Resume
  • 1 Letter of Recommendation
  • Copy of 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or Credential
  • If you do not have a 30-Day Permit or valid Credential, please upload a copy of Unofficial transcripts verifying Bachelor's Degree conferral date (unofficial transcripts for application) *MUST HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE TO APPLY FOR POSITION
  • If you do not have a 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, RUSD will assist you with the process of obtaining the 30-Day Substitute Permit.
