STEM Education Center Update

Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) and the University of California, Riverside have concluded their joint exploration of a proposed STEM Education Center.

After thoughtful and ongoing evaluation, both institutions have agreed that the project will not move forward in its current form. This decision reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that future efforts are aligned with current conditions, long-term sustainability, and the needs of students and the broader community.

RIVERSIDE, Calif., May 22, 2026 — The Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) and University of California, Riverside (UCR) announced today that they are no longer seeking to develop the proposed STEM Education Center on the UCR campus while both institutions work together to expand and strengthen STEM learning, college readiness, and community-supported opportunities for students across all RUSD schools.
