25 Riverside Unified Schools Earn 2025-26 California PBIS Awards

Twenty-five Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) schools have earned 2025-26 California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) recognition, marking a record for the District and highlighting its commitment to creating supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environments where every student can thrive.

Three RUSD schools: Monroe Elementary School, Tomás Rivera Elementary School, and University Heights Middle School earned the highest level of recognition as Platinum PBIS schools. Twelve additional schools earned Gold honors, and 10 schools earned Silver awards in 2025-26.

This builds on RUSD’s growth in terms of total and platinum PBIS awards over the last several years, after the district produced 18 PBIS awards and its first platinum distinction in 2024-25.

PBIS is a proactive, evidence-based framework that helps schools create positive school cultures by teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors, supporting students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs, and establishing systems that promote student success.

This recognition reflects RUSD’s Strategic Plan Goal 3: Support Student Well-Being, Safety and Belonging, which calls for safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environments that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being and foster a strong sense of belonging for every student. Through PBIS and other student-centered practices, RUSD continues building toward its shared vision of ensuring every student is known, supported, challenged, and prepared to reach their full potential.
