Riverside Unified Senior Earns Prestigious Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Riverside STEM Academy senior Sean Chung has been named a 2026 Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) Scholarship recipient, earning a nationally competitive award that supports students pursuing careers in computer science and related fields.

This fall, Chung will attend Carnegie Mellon University, where he plans to study statistics and machine learning on a software engineering pathway. Through the scholarship, he will receive up to $40,000 over four years, along with mentorship and a paid summer internship with Amazon, providing hands-on experience working on real-world technologies.

The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors across the country who demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to pursuing degrees in computer science, engineering, and other technology-related fields. In addition to financial support, the program connects students with industry mentors and immersive internship opportunities designed to prepare the next generation of innovators.
