Our Why

Riverside Unified School District believes in well-being and learning for all. We are a community where all students, staff and families have the right to feel safe, included and accepted. We set high expectations that foster a culture of mutual respect, promote inclusion and embrace diversity. This resource site was crafted to connect our students and families to supports that can increase wellness for those in need.

Family Resource Center

The RUSD Family Resource Center’s Mission is to Improve student learning and development, strengthen family practices, and leverage school programs by integrating resources and services from the community.

Wellness and Well-Being for Students

SAP Counselors provide individual and group counseling and connect families and students to school and community resources. Parents/guardians and staff members may refer students for SAP Counseling or students may self-refer.

Care Solace assists families with finding help for depression, anxiety, stress, and more.

The FAIR Education Act (also known as Senate Bill 48) was signed into law in 2011. It requires that California public schools provide Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful representations of our diverse ethnic and cultural population in the K-12 grade history and social studies curriculum.

According to the FAIR Education Act, instruction in history/ social science shall include the following ethnic and cultural populations in the teaching California and United States history:

Both men and women;
American Indians;
African Americans;
Mexican Americans;
Asian Americans;
Pacific Islanders;
European Americans;
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans;
Persons with disabilities;

Members of other ethnic and cultural groups, to the economic, political, and social development of California and the United States of America, with particular emphasis on portraying the role of these groups in contemporary society.
