Mr. Tim Walker has over 30 years of experience in the field of education. Mr. Walker joined RUSD in January of 2009 as the Director V of Special Education/SELPA. A year later he became responsible for an additional department and accepted his current position. In addition to his 15 years of work with special education students in the classroom, Mr. Walker has held administrative positions in a number of districts including serving as: Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services and Deputy Superintendent.


Mr. Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in recreation/physical education from USC and a Master of Arts degree in human development from Pacific Oaks College.He later earned a Master's degree in education and an Educational Specialist degree from Point Loma University. Mr. Walker holds a multiple subject, learning handicapped and severely handicapped teaching credential as well as an administrative services credential.


Mr. Walker met his wife, Ellen, in high school and together they are the parents of a set of triplets, all of whom attended public schools.

Dr. Perez comes to Riverside Unified School District with a rich background filled with several leadership experiences. Most recently she has sat in the seats of Associate Superintendent, Teaching and Learning & Human Resources/Labor Relations, Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services and High School Principal. In her current role as Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Support K-12, she supports schools and the district through the use of data, research and educational technology, professional development and the implementation of systemic Equity approaches.

Dr. Perez is also an active member in CALSA (California Association of Latino Superintendents & Administrators). She is currently on the Board of Directors as Past-President and firmly believes in supporting all leaders be prepared to lead and educate our Latino students in the state of California.

Dr. Daniel “Dan” Sosa joined Riverside Unified School District in 2017. During his time in RUSD he has served as the director of Research, Assessment, Evaluation, and Technology Services and director of Strategic Initiatives and Program Development.

While at RUSD, Dan has facilitated development of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), co-led the development of the in-person/hybrid instructional model in preparation for students to return to school during the pandemic, and has most recently co-facilitated the creation of the District’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) in the areas of social-emotional learning, behavior, and academics.

Prior to RUSD, Dan served as a curriculum director, middle school and elementary school principal and a middle school teacher. As a curriculum director he worked with diverse teams to transition a school district from traditional to standards-based grading, transform a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program to be more inclusive and equity focused, and build a district-wide system of support for academics. In his role as a principal, Dan led a highly diverse, high achieving middle school and was honored to lead a large, year-round elementary school to earn CA Distinguished School status. All of these experiences helped Dan become an Equity Champion and he is excited to continue to work in RUSD to eliminate systemic barriers that hinder students, families and the greater Riverside community from having access to opportunities within the Inland Empire.

Dan earned a bachelor's in Political Science and a master's in Educational Administration from California State University, San Bernardino. He later earned his doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California. He and his wife have four children who have all been educated within the Riverside Unified School District.

 Sergio San Martin Sergio San Martin

Sergio San Martin joined the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) on July 1, 2016 from the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), where he served as the District's Director III of Facilities Planning and Development. Sergio has more than 20 years of experience in Facilities in the field of education. and has earned his Master's Degree in Community Development, from California State Polytechnic University. He received his Certification of Educational Facilities Planning, from the University of California, Riverside.

Sergio comes with a wealth of knowledge with regards to accounting, planning, and development of District Capital Facilities Funds and Budgets. He is a member of the American Planning Association (APA), Coalition for Adequate School Housing, and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

At MVUSD, Sergio managed the planning and development of new construction, modernization, and renovation of local and state funding projects. He also oversaw the preparation of all state funding applications, expenditure reports, demographic analysis, enrollment projections, developer fee reports, and supervised the District's CAD & geographical information systems (GIS).

Sergio has also worked in some of our neighboring school districts such as Anaheim City School District, as the Senior Facilities Planner, and Santa Ana Unified School District, as the Assistant Director Facilities & Governmental Relations. We are excited to have him join the RUSD family.

Erin Power has been a part of the team at Riverside Unified School District since 2016, serving as the District’s Budget Manager, Assistant Director of Business Services and Director of Business Services. Erin has over twenty years of experience in business services for public education, with much of her career spent in various business roles in higher education at neighboring Riverside Community College District.

At Riverside Unified, Erin oversees all business operations including Budget, Accounting, Payroll, Purchasing, Risk Management and Nutrition Services.

Erin obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside in 2001 and in 2015 she earned her MBA from Brandman University. Erin was also a successful participant in the Association of California School Administrator’s School Business Academy in 2020.

Erin is a resident of Riverside with her husband Dave and three kids, two of whom graduated from RUSD schools.

Kyley has served successfully at a variety of diverse school sites as well as the District setting. The depth of her experience has prepared her to succeed in a collaborative, professional, and supportive role as the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel.

With twenty-five years of experience as a public educator and twenty of those years here at RUSD, she brings a vast level of experience and institutional knowledge. Kyley is the current Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, and has prior experience as a site principal at the elementary and secondary level, a counselor, instructional coach and teacher.

Being a product of Riverside Unified, she has had the opportunity to work in every "cluster" within the District. She is an active member of the greater community and prides herself on having the ability to join together many different cultures and groups in order to focus on what is best for everyone within RUSD.
