MTSS School Psychologists work with schools in establishing best practices in school-wide and class-wide social, emotional, and behavioral strategies and support to help all students fully participate in instruction and/or school activities. MTSS School Psychologists and MTSS/SAP Prevention Assistants work to develop and implement school and class specific supports including providing consultation, model lessons and strategies, participating in staff meetings, and enhancing PBS school wide systems.

SAP School Psychologists and SAP Prevention Assistants work with site staff on matters related to student’s behavioral needs.  They provide consultation, participate in parent meetings, including SST Meetings, and enhance PBIS school-wide systems. 

SAP staff work with students demonstrating social, emotional, or behavioral concerns impacting their ability to participate in instruction and/or school activities fully.

Referrals to the SAP Psychologists occur through the Student Success Team (SST) process for behavioral concerns, including lack of response to school-wide and classroom expectations, lack of appropriate social skills, aggression, withdrawal, damage to property, etc.

Schools are an integral part of the community, and play a critical role in supporting the whole child. As such, we are well-positioned to support our students, families, and community in times of crisis. With responsive prevention and intervention efforts, we can help mitigate the impact of the crisis, teach appropriate coping skills, and even strengthen a person’s capacity to survive future crises. When crisis strikes, the RUSD Crisis Response Team (CRT) may be mobilized to provide support for staff, students and families.
