National School Counseling Week 2020 is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and will be celebrated from Feb. 3-7, 2020.  "School Counselors: Helping Build Better Humans," is this year’s theme which will focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. The week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

The week provides recognition to counselors who implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century.

RUSD school counselors are actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents, to connect with their inner strength that helps students overcome the challenges and obstacles they have in life to help them become better humans. Counselors focus on positive ways to enhance students’ social/personal, educational, and career development by working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where student can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.  Professional school counselors are certified, experienced educators with a masters degree in counseling.

RUSD school counselors help all students reach their potential in the areas of academic achievement, career development, and personal/social development; ensuring students become productive resilient, well-adjusted contributing members of our communities. RUSD wishes to thank every school counselor for their hard work and dedication to students and the community.
