Air Quality and Excessive Heat Alerts Notification to Community
Posted on 08/10/2018
As we are gearing up for the first day of school (Monday, August 13, 2018), Recent wildfires have produced significant amounts of smoke affecting the air quality in our region. Riverside Unified School District schools will be open on Monday, and we would like to notify parents and staff that precautions are being taken to protect students and staff during times when hazardous air quality and high heat conditions exist.
District personnel will be continuously monitoring the air quality as well as high heat alerts during throughout the next few weeks and particularly while the Holy Fire continues to burn.
Per Board Policy and Rules and Regulations 6114.6, when harmful air quality and/or extreme heat conditions exist, students will be kept indoors and all outdoor activities curtailed until conditions improve. District staff will be advised to restrict outdoor activity during those episodes.
Addressing the health, safety, and wellbeing of students and staff within Riverside Unified School District is our priority.
